Prior to his study of the law, Ian H. Gibson became an expert in
the field of music through years of performances on high profile projects
including Emmy award-winning soundtracks, internationally broadcast live
performances seen by tens of millions, and film and television
productions under the direction of industry juggernauts such as Steven
Spielberg and Jerry Bruckheimer. Furthermore, his performance credits
extend well beyond the traditional mediums of film and television to
include award-winning videogame titles and new media projects for
renowned technology luminaries such as Apple.
Ian's experience in the entertainment business is not limited to the
studio and stage. In early 2007 he founded LA Studio Tracks, LLC, a
boutique music library company representing over fifty composers from
seven different countries in a wide array of music licensing
negotiations. As managing director, Ian regularly interfaced with
entertainment industry professionals of all disciplines and has
successfully negotiated licensing deals for prominent placements in
innumerable major network, cable, and new media productions.
As a tireless advocate of the arts, Ian's passion is further evidenced by
his involvement with ISM: A Community Project as a founding member of the
Board of Directors. ISM is a non-profit organization dedicated to the
artistic enrichment of our community through publishing an
internationally distributed magazine, hosting creative installations and
lectures at its gallery, and through its highly interactive web presence.
During his tenure with ISM, Ian has advised the organization in both fine
art and digital media licensing and publishing matters.
Currently, Ian is completing his last year of study at Chapman University
School of Law. He has remained engrossed in the study of intellectual
property law, with an emphasis in entertainment. While at Chapman, Ian
served as Vice President of the Entertainment & Sports Law Society and
received CALI Awards for earning the highest grades in Working with Film
Makers and Civil Procedure.
